Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 13, 2026
Overview
Upcatch ("we," "our," or "the extension") is an independent browser extension that filters Upwork job listings, generates ready-to-use AI prompts (Cover Letter, Skills Gap, and Match Analysis), and delivers job alerts via Telegram and desktop notifications. This policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user. Upcatch does not collect, store on our servers, or sell any personal data.
Data We Access
Upcatch runs in the same browser where you are logged into Upwork. Using your existing Upwork session, the extension fetches job listings from pages you have access to — the same pages you would see if you navigated to them yourself. This happens automatically in the background; you do not need to have Upwork open or be actively browsing for the extension to check for new matching jobs.
The job data fetched — including job titles, descriptions, budgets, client information, and links — is processed entirely in memory within your browser. It is never transmitted to our servers or written to disk.
Data Stored Locally
The following information is saved to your browser's IndexedDB and stays on your device only:
- Your filter preferences (keywords, budget ranges, client history settings)
- Your Telegram Bot Token and Chat ID, if you choose to enable Telegram notifications
- Your CV content, if you upload a Markdown (.md) file to use with the AI prompt feature — stored entirely on your device and never transmitted anywhere
- Your customized AI prompt templates (Cover Letter, Skills Gap, Match Analysis), if you edit the built-in defaults
You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the extension, which removes its IndexedDB entirely, or by clearing site data for the extension via Chrome settings.
Telegram Notifications
If you opt in to Telegram notifications, the extension sends outbound requests to Telegram's API (api.telegram.org) using the Bot Token and Chat ID you provide. Each alert contains only the job title, budget, and Upwork job link — the same information visible in your browser. No other data is included in those messages. Your Bot Token and Chat ID are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
Telegram notifications are entirely optional. The extension functions fully without them.
Desktop Notifications
If you enable desktop notifications, the extension uses Chrome's native notifications API to display browser alerts for matching jobs. No data leaves your device for this feature.
Permissions Explained
Upcatch requests the following Chrome permissions and uses them only as described below:
- IndexedDB — saves your filter settings, optional Telegram credentials, uploaded CV, and customized prompt templates locally on your device
- notifications — displays desktop job alerts in your browser when a matching job appears
- Host permissions for upwork.com — reads the Upwork job feed page you are actively viewing to apply your filters and assemble AI prompt text
No Data Sold or Shared
Upcatch does not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties. The only outbound network request the extension makes is to api.telegram.org when you have opted in to Telegram notifications. We do not use that channel to transmit any data beyond the job alert content described above.
No Analytics or Tracking
Upcatch does not integrate any analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or behavioral tracking services. We do not know who you are, how often you use the extension, or what jobs you view.
Data Retention and Your Rights
All data associated with Upcatch is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB. You may delete it at any time by uninstalling the extension. Because we do not collect data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. If you have questions about your data, contact us using the details below.
Children's Privacy
Upcatch is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If our data practices change, we will update this page and revise the effective date at the top. We will notify users of material changes through the Chrome Web Store update notes or by displaying a notice inside the extension. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
